As a Sustaining Engineer, you will be responsible for management and execution of Sustaining Engineering projects. This position reports to the Director Manufacturing and Sustaining Engineering.


    • Manage design changes and process improvements to reduce cost for current and future production products.  This includes validation testing to support the changes.
    • Design and layout of production lines and support facilities.
    • Tool design for manufacturing and assembly using SolidWorks.
    • Manufacturing process development and validation.
    • Assembly equipment and fixture development and validation.
    • Finished product testing plan development and implementation.
    • Work directly with our supply chain to improve processes and drive down cost.
    • Continually look for ways to improve process, customer satisfaction, quality of product, team achievements, and company overall.
    • Bring to the team a positive spirit and support everyone's efforts to succeed.
    • Work with the development team to complete DFMEA's on all new, and existing products. 


    • B.S. in an engineering discipline (mechanical or manufacturing preferred)
    • 5 or more years of hardware engineering and/or manufacturing experience including plastics and soft goods
    • Contract manufacturing/supply chain management experience.
    • An understanding of QA needs for process industry equipment products.
    • Cost and schedule management.
    • Project planning and management experience.
    • Self-starter –efficient and effective in an environment requiring multitasking.
    • Fast learner
    • Excellent communicator both verbal and written - capable of representing the company publicly e.g. customers, conferences, etc.
    • Organized and diligent - a reliable doer.
    • Capable of designing and implementing processes.
    • Must be capable of executing on work product without significant delegation support.
    • Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
    • Operations or manufacturing engineering experience dealing with assembly of mechanical products (plastics assembly and adhesive joining experience highly desired).
    • Must have experience working in an environment where concurrent development of discrete, consumer-oriented, mechanical, or electromechanical products is the norm, and demand flow manufacturing is employed.
    • Light automation experience desired.
    • Kanban resupply systems.
    • ERP system use and implementation.  SAP Business By Design Preferred.
    • Documentation and configuration control systems.
    • Lean/Six Sigma program experience and experience applying statistical techniques to reducing process variation and solving design and manufacturing challenges.
    • SolidWorks proficiency.
    • Demonstrated experience working across multiple-teams through collaboration and communication.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work and thrive in an ambiguous, start-up culture.
    • Collaborate on durability testing and work with the test team to ensure that products meet all relevant and specified quality requirements.
    • Good overall mechanical aptitude with a willingness to role your sleeves up and make repairs if necessary.
