Test & Maintenance Technician at Vicis

The Test & Maintenance Technician will support physical testing of VICIS helmets, components, and materials as well as performing routine maintenance on the equipment and tooling at the production facility.  Tech will work closely with manufacturing engineering and production group and report to the Director Manufacturing and Sustaining Engineering.

Test Responsibilities

    • Physically perform production and development testing using a variety of both standard test equipment and equipment unique to VICIS.
    • Record and report test data in a way that promotes clarity and provides actionable feedback
    • Run test control and data acquisition programs
    • Follow established test procedures and standards 

Maintenance and Prototyping Responsibilities

    • Maintain and help document all tooling to support multiple products manufactured by VICIS.
    • Occasional Facility Maintenance on items like air compressors, paint booths, 3D-printers and other specialized equipment.
    • Support both the Manufacturing Engineering and Production group by building racks, workstations and specialized tooling to continue reducing overall production costs.
    • Fabricate prototype tooling and fixtures using conventional machine tools and 3D printers.
    • Metal prototyping including basic machining and assembly.
    • Read engineering drawings and build parts to print. 


    • At least 2-4 years’ experience with hands-on design, fabrication, or technical troubleshooting
    • At least 1 year of experience with technical equipment and consumer hard goods
    • Ability to work within a team-driven development framework
    • Self-motivated with the ability to solve problems
    • Ability to communicate technical information clearly
    • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Office products
    • Ability to work mostly in a production/shop environment, lift 40lbs, and work overtime as needed. 

Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous experience in a production environment
    • Experience with high-tech instrumentation and data acquisition
    • Machining, assembly, fabrication, and repair capabilities
    • Experience operating a 3-axis, manual vertical milling machine.
    • CAD competency for basic tool design using Solidworks.
    • PLC Programming
    • Ability to deal with ambiguity and thrive in a start-up environment
