QA Test Automation Engineer at Owlet Baby Care

SUMMARY: Owlet’s Software Development Team is searching for a driven, experienced, and innovative QA Test Automation Engineer. The ideal candidate has several years of experience developing automated tests, writing test cases for backend services and mobile and web apps, and maintaining a test automation framework. The candidate will report to the Director of Quality Assurance and they will work together to build and enhance the test automation for our backend platform.  This is an awesome opportunity for someone to leverage their technical talent and product automation experience to help improve the quality of our products that give parents peace of mind by delivering the right infant health data at the right time.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Review product requirements and then create test plans and test cases
  • Create automated tests for our backend platform
  • Log bugs and verify fixes
  • Identify and create key performance, load, integration and system tests
  • Take ownership of your role to uncover potential failures and stabilize the product
  • Focus on the stability, reliability and performance of Owlet’s internal services and APIs
  • Be driven, meticulous, detailed-oriented and absolutely dependable
  • Work closely with project managers, quality assurance, and software engineers, following established processes
  • Document results, track test metrics and propose improvements

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years working with Python test automation
  • 3+ years working with REST API’s
  • Strong working knowledge of Git (including branches, merging, rebasing, and pull requests)
  • Strong working knowledge of pub/sub environments
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and database testing
  • Must be able to write integration tests in a continuous integration pipeline
  • Experience with debugging and meticulous about quality
  • Familiarity with Runscope / Synthetic API test tools
  • Familiarity with CodeFresh
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform
  • Working knowledge of data monitoring systems
  • Experience working with connected devices/IoT
  • Must be comfortable working independently as well as in a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
