About the Role:

On the North America Product team, we're building and improving Remitly's core customer experiences. We do this collaboratively with an amazing team of product managers, designers, analysts, and engineers working together through the entire feature development lifecycle - from ideation, design, and development to release, analysis, and iteration. We experiment and learn, staying connected to how our customers use our product, striving to solve customer problems better and better every day.

As an Engineer Manager on the team, you'll report to the Director of Engineering. You'll manage a team of engineers, with a focus on their growth and continued development. You'll lead the team to high-quality delivery with a multi-quarter outlook. You'll establish a technical direction, directing the team to make sound technical decisions and appropriate tradeoffs between shipping code and technical investments. As a senior member of our engineering staff, you'll exemplify a growth and improvement mindset, flexibly taking on new challenges as they arise and helping others do the same. Most of all, you'll care deeply about our customers and use engineering as an avenue to reliably produce customer value.

You Will:

  • Build frameworks and processes that empower the team to operate autonomously and make independent decisions.
  • Partner with product management and senior engineering management to shape a long-term vision and roadmap for our product.
  • Create a positive and rewarding environment for the team, providing appropriate growth opportunities.
  • Establish and meet the hiring plan for the team, sourcing and interviewing a diverse set of candidates.
  • Coach engineers and more junior managers, helping them learn and improve.
  • Contribute to and promote standards around technical culture.

You Have:

  • A BS in Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8+ years of experience with software engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience leading system design/architecture across teams.
  • 2+ years of experience leading technical teams.
  • A background shipping consumer-facing products.
  • Expertise in one or more general purpose programming languages like JavaScript or Go.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and promoting engineers.
