Corporate Counsel at Owlet Baby Care

SUMMARY: The Corporate Counsel will support and advise the business in all a variety of areas.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive, forward-thinking, and creative guidance to business leaders
  • Assist the Company as it transitions from private to public
  • Prepare, negotiate and review commercial contracts
  • Partner with functional groups within the Company on both transactional work and risk analysis
  • Help scale the Legal department and implement operational efficiencies to improve efficiency
  • Lead special projects/initiatives and other duties as may be assigned

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed, in good standing, in one or more states to practice law
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, with corporate securities experience preferred
  • Flexible and agile problem solver, with the ability to tolerate ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to balance legal and business risk with commercial opportunity
  • Strong communication skills and comfort addressing both junior staff and senior leaders
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and capable of working with minimal direction
  • Ability to navigate large teams, collaborate effectively, and drive decision making
  • Good sense of humor and a genuine interest in relationship building across teams
  • Willingness to work both virtually and/or in an office setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of negotiation best practices, in both in-person and written form
  • Knowledge of FDA, FTC, and data privacy regulations a plus
