Director of Medical Affairs at Owlet Baby Care

This is an exciting opportunity in a fast-paced, to accelerate a leading-edge digital health ecosystem for parents to infants.  We seek a self-driven, collaborative, and innovative Medical Affairs person to join the healthcare team to accelerate creativity, development, and expansion of the ecosystem.  You will bring medical expertise, supporting our teams in their effort to develop innovative new solutions, and covering all aspects of medical, regulatory, and clinical affairs.

Leveraging your strong experience and network within the healthcare industry, you will initiate cross-industry collaboration on medical topics. You will represent Owlet along with our Medical Advisory board as a speaker at conferences and events.

This position requires a mature personality with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, interacting with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, and a strong capacity for resilience and adaptation to be successful as part of our culture of innovation.

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Reporting directly to the GM, the Director of Medical Affairs has the responsibility to support 

  • Leadership to determine medical affairs engagement and contribution to strategy, digital ecosystem, and KOL management.
  • Will take a key contributing role in specific high-profile programs (e.g., subject matter expertise contribution for a given program, key liaison for external stakeholder engagement).
  • Participate in key external events that help raise engagement and understanding of Owlet’s mission. This could involve participation in regulatory body events, major congresses, and educational events. Participate in the planning and development of key subject matter expert advisory boards.
  • Keeps abreast of trends in health care delivery and payment models. 
  • Provide strong medical/clinical expertise and strategically support Owlet teams in functional areas including Product, Engineering, Data Science, Marketing, Sales.
  • Define a clinical trials strategy by being involved with the product team in the definition, analysis, and reporting of results of clinical trials.
  • Manage Owlet Medical Advisory board and organize and manage KOLs and worldwide speaking engagements and conferences. 
  • Represent Owlet and develop our relationships with medical regulatory bodies and healthcare industry thought leaders.
  • Guide the health care system, track scientific and clinical insights, and develop competitive intelligence developments.
  • Orchestrate and manage clinical outcomes of regulatory strategies and interactions with U.S. and E.U. regulatory bodies (FDA, Medical C.E.). Participate in finding suitable predicates and proof of equivalence.
  • Contribute to the training and continuing education of Owlet teams on medical topics.
  • Oversees consultation and engagement with stakeholders to ensure appropriate clinical trial designs and conduct few existing product developments.
  • Reviews and approve clinical trial protocols and clinical Monitor assignment for certain trials 
  • Reviews and approves all generated medical disclosures (e.g., congress presentations, and publications).
  • Reviews regulatory communications 
  • Helps facilitate engagement with key subject matter experts within the medical and scientific community.

Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (M.D., D.O. or will entertain P.A./NPs) with a background in a clinical or scientific investigation.
  • 5 years of proven leadership experience in the Healthcare industry with a strong network of professionals in this industry (medical professionals, payers/providers, institutions, researchers, laboratories, CRO, etc.)
  • Enthusiasm and deep belief in the transformative potential of digital health and person-centric care
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and excellent problem-solving skills 
  • Knowledge of relevant FDA and E.U. regulations and guidelines; prior successful interactions with FDA personnel is a plus (preferred)
  • Previous interaction with scientific committees and boards (AAP, AHA, etc.), and willingness to stand on the podium in front of peers. (preferred)
