Staff Mobile Security Researcher at Lookout

We are looking for a Staff Mobile Security Researcher to join our Research team, a group of top-tier security researchers working to identify, investigate, and track attacks on users of mobile devices.  As a member of this team you will use an extensive arsenal of detection tools including the largest collection of mobile apps containing 140M+ Android and iOS apps as well as telemetry from over 200M sensors to identify and research mobile threats and hunt down malicious actors, their infrastructure, tooling and techniques. You will be collaborating with researchers from our Apps, Device/OS, Threat Intelligence, and Phishing Research teams to create innovative detections, protecting our customers from the entire spectrum of threats targeting mobile devices.

Responsibilities:

  • Reverse engineer applications, system code, and exploits to determine how they work
  • Develop strategies to hunt mobile threats targeting enterprises and individuals
  • Develop tools to mine internal and external data sources to identify new campaigns, malware families, and malicious actors
  • Publicly report major discoveries
  • Create coverage to protect enterprise and consumer customers

Qualifications & skills:

  • Experience in reverse engineering software and systems
  • Previous research experience with iOS / macOS and Android preferred
  • Ability to read code in Java, C, C++, ARM Assembly, ObjectiveC, and Swift
  • Ability to create research tools in Python, Ruby or Java
  • Ability to articulate technical findings both in written reports and presentations 
  • Experience using some of the following tools: JEB, IDA Pro, Ghidra, Hopper, gdb, Frida
