About the Role:
Do you want to be an integral part of Educative's fast growth by helping the Author Acquisition team sign up new Authors to create additional courses? Are you a technical sales professional who would excel at understanding the technical aspects of our content catalog and platform, and explaining to potential authors which topics are the best overlap between their expertise and our content needs?
You will support our author acquisition team by bringing your technical understanding of the course topics we need, working with our internal subject matter experts, and helping to guide our authors to write on the more relevant topics.
Educative is looking for a Sales Engineer to make a big difference. As a member of our growing Author Acquisition team, you will work with your sales colleagues as they find potential authors, convince them of the benefits of signing up with Educative, and help close new author contracts. 

Core Responsibilities:

    • Support the Author Acquisition team in technical discussions with potential authors about the topics/outlines of the courses they could create
    • Help to close "sales", which is signing up authors to create desired courses.
    • For each key Educative content area (e.g. Cloud, Machine Learning, Frontend, et. al.) work with the internal subject matter experts to understand the technical course content we need, and help communicate that to authors.
    • Take the lead in iterative revisions of an author's course outline proposal to make it the most valuable for our learners
    • Prepare and give technical demos of our platform to explain to authors how it will help them create a world-class, interactive course. As needed, create custom demos based on the author's domain.
    • Establish strong relationships with prospective authors.

Ideal Candidate:

    • 2-3 years of experience in a customer facing role with a technical product or service. Could be sales, customer success, business development, or recruiting.
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
    • Ability to quickly learn and understand new technical fields.
    • Strong record of success in developing rapport with customers.
    • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience working at startups a plus
    • Experience dealing with ambiguity and navigating through challenges
    • Excellent written and verbal communications
