About the Role:

We're searching for a Senior Accountant to join Remitly’s growing Finance team, reporting to our EMEA Head of Finance. This role will be responsible for management of financial regulatory reporting, and the day to day regulatory accounting operations of Remitly’s EMEA entities. You will leverage experience in regulatory compliance to lead efforts in ensuring financial reporting and regulatory compliance requirements are managed and completed efficiently and effectively. You’ll accomplish this through partnering closely with the global finance and engineering teams, building relationships with the Compliance function and local outsourced providers along with internal stakeholders. You will be based in the Republic of Ireland (either in our Cork office or remotely in the country). 

You Will:

  • Prepare daily financial analysis for regulatory reporting required for Remitly’s regulators in its EMEA entities 
  • Prepare assigned Regulatory Returns for internal review prior to submission 
  • Help develop financial and regulatory reporting processes and make improvements where necessary
  • Ensure compliance with regional and regulatory Safeguarding obligations required for Remitly’s regulators
  • Preparation of daily Safeguarding reconciliations and ensuring data accuracy in order to meet regulatory requirements 
  • Keep up-to-date with and apply applicable regulations and accounting standards
  • Work with engineering team to build out workflows and re-engineer/design/improve existing regulatory reporting processes
  • Work with business leaders to ensure new product and currency rollouts are captured from a regulatory perspective
  • Ensure adequate financial controls are in place, documented and regularly reviewed for EMEA entities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and projects as required
  • Respond to regulatory stakeholder financial reporting requests 
  • Assist in the development of single source data repository for population of regulatory returns and eliminate manual processes and duplication across multiple returns
  • Be responsible for identifying all outsourced processes (engineering, Global Corporate Accounting, and reliance on global system data) in the safeguarding process at regular intervals and monitoring outsourcing reliability
  • Act as a point of contact for auditors, both in internal and external, on financial regulatory reporting matters.

You Have:

  • 4+ years progressive experience in an Accounting or Finance role
  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance or accounting
  • Professional qualification in accountancy or in a similar discipline
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment 
  • Knowledge of Capital Requirements Regulations
  • Analytical and problem solving mind-set, with the ability and eagerness to get into details to find solutions
  • Proven experience of working across multiple business areas, functions and locations
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal) 
  • Some travel may be required to UK, UAE and US offices.
