About the Role:

As a senior engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager for New Initiatives, you will work in modern Java and Go codebases, taking on some of our most challenging technical problems while building the first generation of a new global financial product. This product domain will stretch you to build reliable, available, and secure software that can address evolving and regionally unique user problems. Joining at the inception, you will be able to shape the culture, processes and technical foundations of the team.

What you'll do:

• Build novel product: Participate in the brainstorming, technical design, and implementation of new features with a data-driven and customer-centric viewpoint.
• Provide technical leadership: Guide or scale the engineering team through your expertise in technical writing, distributed systems architecture, coding, operational excellence and software development processes.
• Be a Cultural Leader: Be a role model in upholding Remitly's cultural values and use them as a framework to coach other engineers across the team to achieve their full potential.
• Be an Empathetic Partner: Partner with Product Management, Design and other functions to build high-quality features for our users.

Who you are:

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
• 5+ years experience building customer-focused software products with a focus on backend and APIs
• 2+ years experience leading other engineers on large features in collaboration with PM and Design
• Experience building, shipping, and maintaining reliable and scalable backend services on a public cloud platform (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Proficiency in one of the following languages: Java, C#, JavaScript, Go, Rust, Python, or Ruby

Compensation Details: The starting base salary range for this position is typically $159,090- $189,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
